Investment CriteriaWe believe that the quality of management is the principle contributor to the success of a company. Therefore, we look for motivated and experienced leaders with high integrity and drive. We highly value selling skills because a young company often depends on the founders and senior management to do most of the selling during the early years. We also favor companies whose management understands what it means to operate a profitable and rapidly growing enterprise. Brook’s initial investment in a company is usually $1-3 million, but occasionally we may invest a smaller amount where follow-on investments are likely. Brook generally leads the investment syndicate bringing in other venture funds or strategic investors as co-investors to tap into their domain expertise, and to provide a deeper pool of funds should they be required.
While we focus on investing within the Information Technology and Medical Technology fields, we occasionally invest outside of these areas. We do not consider businesses in the consumer products, retailing or hospitality industries, or within businesses characterized with low gross profits or long development cycles to achieve profitability.
